The Witch Is Back!

After an awesome weekend round my girlfriends helping her rearrange her room ready for new units to display her consoles and games (more on that in the near future), I felt a bit lost on what to do. But as I entered my room, I found myself a nice pick me up.

"Whats in the box?" none of you are asking, well let me show you anyway.

It is indeed the "First Print Edition" of Bayonetta 2 for Wii U!

For a little context, This is the very limited, Europian only edition that was announced during the Bayonetta 2 Nintendo Direct back in October and was limited to only 15,300 copies (why that number I have no idea). The design of the packaging shaped like the Hierarchy of Laguna book that appears in the game and comes with physical copies of not only Bayonetta 2, but an enhanced port of the original Bayonetta as well as a small art book.

As you can see for the pictures above, the attention to detail is impressive. The surface is embossed to match the print, which has a very nice gold lettering and trim. The Cover is held by a magnet and the whole package feels very sturdy and well put together. My only complaints are that the art 'book' feels more like an after thought and is pretty much a glorafide booklet stuck to the inside. It's a real shame as there is some really great concept art for both games and would have been nice to see some more of that represented here.

The other complaint, be it a small one, is something I find often with special editions is the games come with the standered cover. I love the overall design, however as its a Europian PAL game, it's over crouded with infomation and age ratings from several different languages that just makes it feel untidy. A reversable cover with just the art work would have been nice, espically for those who want to display the games. This is something I would like all games to adapt but thats just me being picky :)

Overall I'm very happy with With the 'First Print Edition' of  Bayonetta 2, now I just need to find a place to put it!

Unboxing: Loot Crate September 2014

GmrGrl here (this is getting repettative isn't it?) with this month's loot crate video with a difference!

This month's theme was Galactic and we were told we'd be getting Star Wars, Star Trek, Firefly & Alien themed items but I don't think either of us were expecting this!! Enjoy!!

Hyrule Warriors

Despite being called "Retro Gamer Paradise" this blog is a celebration of our love for gaming in general, old and new. With that in mind, here is my unboxing post of my Hyrule Warriors Special Edition.

For some context, this is the European special edition that comes with a copy of the game, as well as a replica of the scarf that Link wears in the game. There is also two special editions in Japan which are far better then the one we got. They include a Triforce clock (which has music from the game as the alarm), an art book and a replica treasure chest. If it wasn't for the fact it will cost well over £100 to order from Japan (and the fact it's sold out) I would have been all over it.

But this is the one we got and I'm still happy with it. I've yet to take the scarf out of the plastic bag as I don't have any way of displaying it as of yet. I have however opened the game and as you can see it comes with a manual!

(Ah, I miss the smell of a new manual)

So there you have it, not the most exciting special edition but it's nice to get something other then a figure for a change. But it would have been nice to have a few more extras like the Japanese edition.

Nerd Block 2014 September

Hi guys! GmrGrl again, back with another unboxing video, this time it's Nerd Block under the microscope and I wasn't as thrilled with this month's box.

Nerd Block have announced that from January 2015 they are introducing themes to their boxes and next month's box is going to be a trial run of that so hopefully it should be slightly less 'random' in it's approach although it will make it much more like lootcrate & mygeekbox. Here's hoping the Arcade Block is better than this was.... :/

Loot Crate - August 2014 - Heroes

Final unboxing video for the month and we saved the best till last, Loot Crate's Heroes themed box :)

As Tachiko mentioned, we opened my crate as his was sat at home a very long train ride away, I'll try and persuade him to send me pictures of what he got so we can post them up here :)

I will also try and remember to take photos before I rip things out of the packaging to give a better/ clearer picture of what's in the box...sorry guys!!

Nerd Block : August 2014

Hi guys!

Back again with another unboxing video, this time we're unboxing a NerdBlock classic. Video quality is better as Tachiko was playing camera man! Not sure if NerdBlock has a set 'theme'. It all seems a little random in terms of content. Anyway, ENOY!!

Again really liked this box and have decided to buy it for another month or two to see what it's all about.

Lootcrate-July 2014

"you're a little small for a LootCrate" is what I thought to myself when I found this black box waiting for me when I got home from work. I was very quickly on the phone to GmrGrl to perform an impromptu unboxing. (It's not my fault my box came early!-GmrGrl) 

I feel that I picked the right month to start my subscription as the theme was Villains, and in true form the Joker took it upon himself to personalise my box (at least I like to think that). But as nice as the box is, its the contents that matters and I was not disappointed. I was first greeted with an awesome Loki X Joker tee (which fits!).

I was then treated to some Deadpool socks, which as the theme was Villains, seems like an odd choice. But who cares, they are sweet. 

Next up was a DVD of the Villains of DC comics but as its American I'll have to wait to play it on GmrGrl's region free player. Also included was a nice rubber Darth Vader keychain and a Bowser fridge magnet.

The last  item (not including the booklet and badge that's included in every LootCrate) was the double Joker (I swear he put this crate together himself) and Harley Quinn poster. Both of which will be framed soon.

But the best item for me was the exclusive LootCrate cover of Rocket Raccoon issue one! Just look at this beauty. He's even holding his very own LootCrate, so cute!

So that was my first in a three month subscription. Over all I'm impressed with the quality of the products they included and looking forward to next months theme of heroes 

My Geek Box July 2014-Animation

Hey Guys!

My first GeekBox showed up!! This month's theme was Animation and boy it didn't disappoint! 

This month's box included a super cool Adventure Time tee, a Funko Pop Vinyl figure (I got LSP from Adventure Time), a Simpsons Lego Minifig blind bag (I got Maggie), a South Park vinyl sticker, a Simpsons fold-away shopper with a 'Kwik-e-Mart' logo, Shaped Simpsons Plasters & a couple of Supergirl Necklaces

Loved this month's theme, not to sure what Supergirl has to do with Animation but its still pretty cool. My shirt was a little on the small side, which is fine if I don't want to breathe but I'm looking at a couple of larger ones on eBay cos ya-know, breathing is kinda sorta necessary! I've amended my shirt size on the site so that any future shirts will be bigger!

Next month's theme is Quests...roll on August is all I can say!!
